The Peruvian Grill

We were in Florida recently and when we drove past the Peruvian Grill we decided we had to try it out. The girls were quite nervous while we were looking over the menu, deciding what to order, but they were troopers and tried it out with us. Above is the appetizer. Causa Rellena was described as mashed potato with peruvian yellow pepper stuffed with chicken. I was thinking, mashed potatoes and chicken. Not so much. It was more like potato salad stuffed with chicken salad, so it was cold and very rich. But it was good, just not what I expected :)

Chris ordered the Aji De Gallina, shredded chicken in a creamy peruvian yellow pepper sauce served with rice. He loved it. It had some potatoes in it that the girls enjoyed as well.
Next, I ordered Seco De Res, beef braised in cilantro served with rice and navy beans. It tasted like the beef may have been braised in beer or wine instead of cilantro, but what do I know. It was ok, but I liked Chris' dish better.
We couldn't go without dessert. Alfajor is homemade caramel between two cookies. The girls thought this was the best ever. All in all, we enjoyed our experience with Peruvian cuisine. It was fun to try it out and see what it was like.
