Our Vision

We plan to serve in Latin America for a four year term through Eastern Mennonite Missions (EMM). We have an anticipated date of departure of August 2012.

Our four year term will involve a year in Language school learning Spanish in Costa Rica. Then we plan to go on to Cusco, Peru and serve in whatever capacity the Lord would have for us there. There are multiple opportunities for us to serve local pastors in supporting their ministry efforts, possibly teaching in the mission school, and working in a medical clinic there. We are praying that the Lord would lead us into the areas he wants us to be a part of.

Our vision and heart's desire is to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to those who do not know him. We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus to others who may not be as fortunate as we are. We invite you to be a part of this vision. Please pray with us, that God would use us to carry out His will in the lives of others.

Our Family

Chris and Rose have been married for 13 years. They currently reside in Montgomery, Indiana. Chris grew up in Michigan and Rose in Odon, IN. Here are some interesting facts about them and their family.

Enjoys being a mom and reading, when time allows

Nine years old

4th Grader at Barr Reeve Intermediate

Loves Jesus and has a very generous spirit

Enjoys reading and playing games

Katie

Nickname: Katie-did

Six years old

Kindergartner at Barr Reeve Primary

Loves Jesus and is very loyal

Enjoys giggling and learning to read

Danica

Nickname: Gracie-boo (per her Daddy)

20 months old

Goes to PMC nursery on Sunday am, otherwise attends youth group

Loves to be a distraction, but she is so cute

Enjoys watching movies, especially "Gi-Gi" and "Rio"

Hopefully this gives you a better picture of our family. We are excited to serve the Lord in whatever He calls our family to. We appreciate your prayerful support in this endeavor.

Timeline

The timeline for Chris and Rose's mission adventure started long ago. Even before they started dating, they both spent time overseas in missions. Chris spent a year in China, teaching English as a second language. Rose spent a summer in the Czech Republic with her aunt and uncle who were serving there.

Over the years they have traveled on various mission trips to Mexico and Guatemala, leading their church youth group on short term mission trips. More recently, they felt a stronger call to full-time missions.

In August of 2010, Chris made the announcement that he and Rose were feeling the call to serve the Lord in missions. After much prayer and seeking what the Lord would have for them, they started the journey with Rosedale Mennonite Missions. However, after interviews and discussions they felt it wasn't the right "fit". They wanted to be able to use their medical skills and background to help others as they spread the gospel.

In February 2011 they first spoke with Eastern Mennonite Missions about a possible assignment in Cusco, Peru. How exciting to find a mission that involved medicine, church planting, and a mission school.

Fast forward past interviews, both skype and face-to-face, and they have been officially appointed to serve in Cusco, Peru. The plan is to go to language school in Costa Rica in August of 2012. Therefore, the task at hand presently is to raise funds. Chris and Rose must raise funds for at least the first two years of service prior to leaving the states.
